On the Prowl

I wore this when I went out for lunch with my cousin and saw her new baby for the first time. When I arrived she told me I looked like a cougar, so I told her that of course I was wearing my uniform since I'd just been out trolling for dates outside of the local high school. I'm very impressed at my milf skillz, that I can still chase my four year old, her two year old, and carry her baby all while wearing these shoes. Not at the same time, mind you. I'm not Super Milf or anything, I just act the part!

Shirt: Thrifted

Skirt: Joe

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

I thrifted this black silk shirt with princess sleeves when it was one dollar per bag day at the thrift store in the next village over. I hadn't been there since high school, since it's in the same village which I don't go to often, but I popped in while getting my snow tires changed over to my all-seasons. I love the idea of thrifting for various reasons, especially environmental, but I never seem to get the chance to do much of it because shopping with children attached to me is tricky. That, and they can't seem to stop molesting the mannequins! So I'm so glad that I made such a score this day and bragging about it makes me feel even better. The cost per wear on this blouse right now is like 10 cents and it's my first time wearing it.

Banged

I have been constantly growing out and recutting my bangs for about three years now. I go through a process of hating them, growing them, then wanting them back so I trim them and then I hate them again. I'm currently in the "hate" stage, but it takes a little while to get them to stop being unruly so I'm still adjusting. I'm going to make them shorter, though. I don't like them when they have to be curled under and hairsprayed as if it were still the 80s but before the tidal wave bangs came into fashion. I'm actually tempted to do the tidal wave just to see if I still how much height I can get on these babies.

Moto, pants, striped tee: Old Navy

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Sunglasses: prescription

I'm pretty sure that I have an unlimited supply of black trousers from Old Navy, only in slightly different leg and back pocket styles and they span three sizes. Seriously, this has to stop. I keep telling myself that I'm going to stay out of that store but then I have to go in to buy things for the children who can't seem to keep the knees in their pants and is it my fault that they put the sale rack next to the little boy's section and they have black trousers for 9 dollars? That store is like thrifting for me!

Breaking the Rules

When my dad saw me wearing this dress he said, "Oh. Oh, really!" in a tone that made me think that he wanted to force me to wear a bathrobe over the top of it. I felt good in it which is the most important thing, even though I was trying out that whole "tights and sandals" thing that other bloggers have been doing lately and I always swore I would never do that. Here I am, breaking my own rules and actually liking it. Plus, it got cold again, and we pretty much know that I'm a goofball by now, right?

I should take this time to announce that I didn't love these shoes when I bought them, but I bought them for a song and now they've grown on me. Funny how getting a good deal can make you love something? A great way to spend 30 bucks, if you ask me; shoes are the gift that keeps on giving.

Day 5: Super Stripes Week

Diagonal stripes! I've had this skirt for almost ten years and for some reason I haven't worn it for about 8 years and forgot that it even existed. I bought this because it was more modest for work, but since I haven't worked in all that time, I haven't needed to wear anything below the knee. This jean jacket I bought for 5 dollars at Old Navy and who knows how long it's been in my closet but I ripped the tags off of it this morning, so that's progress in my book. I'm slowly getting this closet under control, I think.

Day 2: Super Stripes Week

I can't believe that not only am I wearing yellow, I'm also allowing photographic evidence of it and then posting it on the internet. What will happen to my street cred? Plus, these pants? No! Too short! Goodbye, pants.

I wore this when I took my guys to see Rango. Johnny Depp is the voice of Rango. Fantasizing about a cartoon is just. plain. wrong. Johnny darling, would you please not do cartoons anymore?
